Solving conflict, increase productivity

CONTEXT

A logistics provider, with appr. 65 employees from different foreign countries often communicating only in their native language. Barriers in communication between employees but also between employees and management led to conflicts, a decrease in productivity and behaviours that could not be accepted by the employer.

SCOPE

The project included examining the causes of conflict, resolving the conflicts and increasing productivity. An equally important part of the project was to introduce tools that will prevent such situations from arising in the future.

APPROACH

  • Analysis of the organisation based on in-depth interviews with key employees at all levels.
  • Workshop for managers how to recognise and solve conflicts.
  • Workshop for employees; “Understand conflict, how differences in values can cause conflicts”.
  • Advising and cooperation with HR department in implementation necessary procedures.

Results

  • End of dispute between groups of employees.
  • Implemented code of conduct.
  • Visualisation of results based on lean methodology.
  • Implemented bonus system based on productivity.
  • Increased commitment through introduction of a tool for submitting improvement ideas by employees.
  • Salary benchmark and advice.
